An exciting new partnership
We have taken a very exciting step by partnering with the University of Stirling for their Graduate Apprentice Programme. Two of our team members on the data team have joined the programme where they will be working towards a BSc Graduate Apprenticeship in Data Science. Graeme Lavery and Duncan Hayward will be supported by Jamie McLaughlin – Head of our Data team.
An opportunity for both students and the business to grow
Graeme, a Data Engineer here at Optiseller, sees the apprenticeship as a “fantastic opportunity to learn and qualify while working, applying what you are learning and helping the business.” Duncan, our Junior Data Scientist, adds that he is “delighted to get the chance to explore the rapidly growing and evolving data science field in both professional and academic environments.”
Our chance to upskill and develop talent
Mario Kolberg, who is the Senior Lecturer in Computing Science as well as the University’s Course Director, comments: “We welcome the students who have joined us. University of Stirling graduates will play a key role in supporting the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and this programme provides a route into education for many, while offering employers such as Optiseller opportunities to upskill and develop existing or attract new talent, ready to make a positive impact in their company and the Scottish economy.”
Our focus on Learning and Development
Louise Findlay, Head of our HR department, explains: “Learning and Development is one of our key focuses, and the Graduate Apprenticeships in Data Science give us the opportunity to provide invaluable work experience whilst supporting our people to achieve additional qualifications. We are excited for Duncan and Graeme to have the opportunity to learn how to collect, manage and analyse fast-moving data working alongside our experts, and we hope they grow and develop within the company for years to come."
